I ran a Mirage plus 19" pitch on my old HPDI but knew I had to go lower in pitch with this engine so i dropped to a Mirage 17" pitch, not much better. The engine is just broke in and I don't have any top end performance numbers yet since I'm on the road, but will have those numbers soon. Just looking for any suggestions. Wondering if I should go to a 4 blade or even a 5 blade but don't know if this is too much for this engine. Tags: None. Do you have a jackplate?
When the holeshot is slow, is the motor revving up easy, but the boat just takes a while to get moving?
Or is the motor bogging down and feels like your starting out in 3rd gear? Comment Post Cancel. Sorry for the delay in getting back. The SHO is new. No jackplate but thinking about one in the future. No matter what the load upon full throttle acceleration the motor tacks up to about RPM and doesn't climb until the boat planes sezione i. Just doesn't feel like the prop is hooking up.
Once on plane, the mid range punch is great! Currently running a Yamaha Reliance 17 pitch and the hole shot is much better with 2 people but not all that great with 4. I hate to lose any more top end but definitely needs bottom end help. Right now I don't know if the dealers suggestion on a replacement engine was the best advice. Any new water pickups or different transducers mounted on the boat during the repower?Back to top. View in: Desktop.

150 vs 175 four strokes. Is the dealer right?
All the other bass boats I have looked at with Yamaha's have had the Sho. I asked him why the difference in price? I asked if the Sho is more fuel efficient. He laughed and said no. He basically refused to give an answer. From my research I see that the Sho has faster take off speed. Both motors seem to weigh the same.
I can find the take off speed for the Sho for the exact model bass boat I'm looking at but I can not for the In Line.
It will not give me the option to put it on the bass boat. Just inshore boats. Does anybody here have any experience with these motors? For a bass boat which one would you recommend? Is the Sho worth the money? Replies 6. Options Top. My buddy has the sho on his bluewave. It screams on the water and doesnt burn a lot of gas.
Not sure if its worth the extra 5k or not, but I will say that it is a great motor. Replies 0. Not really apples to apples but a buddy has a SHO on his party barge and that thing moves!
It's a great motor and very quiet. But as for it being fuel efficient, it's not. He says it drinks gas like his powerboat with a Replies 1. My vmax sho is a short shaft motor. The long shaft was a vmax. Replies 2. Thanks for the input.Back to the main site.

I figured I would start a new thread as the other one was really getting off topic. I would consider the VF or possibly the VF I have looked at the performance bulletins and see that there is only a few second difference in the mph times on similarly equipped boats. It also seems as if the there is a few mph difference on top end speed. I am new to boating and watersports and I am wondering if this is 'real world' significant or the F will be more than enough. Is this worth the upgrade? Thanks in advance.
You don't have to use it all the time, but it's nice to have when you need the power. I guess what I am asking, is there anybody that has driven similar boats with both motors and really noticed a difference? This would be like Tom's post about esp vs sps and he had tried both.
I would prefer the better gas mileage if there is not really a perceivable difference. BulldogsCadillac Just some guy. Messages 4, Reaction score 1, Location Dauphin, Manitoba. I really liked my SHO. Silly girl doesn't she know they make 's and inboards?
I was quite pleased with how it held its speed with 11 passengers on it though. Anybody else with additional input? I think tomorrow is probably the last day I can make a change. Is the dealer right? Thread starter Renegade34 Start date Sep 25, Renegade34 Well-Known Member. Messages Reaction score I've been contemplating going with a hp over a hp but my dealer doesn't recommend it due to minimal noticeable difference in power. I think going to a hp would put me out of my comfort zone on the budget but not totally out of the question. Is the dealer right about the no real difference in power? To me 25hp should be noticeable but he says it's not worth it.
I'd just like a 2nd opinion from you folks. The boat its going on is a 23' swingback with sps package. Messages 2, Reaction score 1, Renegade34 said:. I have a and agree with your dealer. The 's are strong these days. Link Moderator. Also agree, the is the biggest bang for the buck.
